Bypass shutters are basically panels that can slide past each other, mounted on separate tracks at the top and/or bottom. They can either stack to one side or if you have large windows, you can stack them on both sides. The difference between bypass shutters and bi-fold shutters is that the bi-fold shutters stack and fold like an accordion.
Bypass shutters are usually placed quite close together to save space, but if you wish to let the panels pass other with the louvres open, the tracks need to be separated by more space
